Who we are
Orwell Lab builds websites, custom software, AI agents and business automation. For the personal information described here, Orwell Lab is the controller. You can reach us about anything in this notice at help@orwelllab.com, or at our offices at 13 Hanover Square, Mayfair, London W1B 2QD and Office 1732, Central Park Towers, DIFC, Dubai.
What we collect
- The discovery call form. Your name, work email, phone number and company if you give them, the kind of help you are looking for, your message, and the address of the page you sent it from.
- Email. Whatever you include when you write to us.
- Visiting the site. The companies that host and deliver the site process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so pages can be delivered and the site protected from abuse. Pages also load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads.
This site does not set cookies, and it runs no analytics or advertising tags. If that changes, we will ask first where the law requires it and update this notice before it goes live.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a discovery call. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a possible contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To keep a record of conversations with prospective and existing clients, so we can pick up where we left off. The basis is legitimate interests.
- To keep the site secure and working. The basis is legitimate interests.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not add enquiry details to marketing lists.
Who receives it
- FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), the form service that passes your form entries to our inbox by email.
- Our email providers: Google Workspace for orwelllab.com mail, and Microsoft Outlook, where form enquiries are currently delivered.
- Render and Cloudflare, which host and deliver the website.
- Google, through Google Fonts, as described above.
- Professional advisers, or authorities where the law requires it.
Each provider handles the data to provide its service to us, not for its own purposes beyond what its own terms and the law allow.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of these providers store or process data outside the UK, including in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law provides, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries, and the emails that follow them, for up to 24 months after our last contact with you. If you become a client, we keep project records for as long as the engagement and our legal obligations need. After that we delete them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests. Where it applies, you can also ask for your data in a portable format. Email help@orwelllab.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
